A Champion's Mindset
"Was I Born This Way?"
What does it really mean to be a champion? Is it the definition of a champion that describes this persona, this personality, this character? Is it what you think, what I think, what others think of this title one is given or proclaims?
The American Heritage Dictionary says that a champion is:
1) One that wins first place or first prize in a competition
2) One that is clearly superior or had the attributes of a winner
3) An ardent defender or supporter of a cause or another person
4) One who fights, who is a warrior
To me, a champion is someone that follows their heart. A champion is someone that is choosing the option to play the game, follow the rules, and put everything into the opportunity it may provide. A champion is willing to put in the work, the belief that it will happen, and the determination to not quit, no matter the difficulty. NO ONE, can take away the possibility.
A champion is willing to go hard in the paint for as long as it takes, to make the outcome the best possible outcome, win or lose. A champion believes when no one else believes, seeks inspiration when things seem tough, and requires a positive mindset when failure lurks. A champion never quits. She may think about it momentarily, but she will not let the thought poison the possibility of the outcome.
Intention. Purpose. Vision.
Goals. Action. Inspiration.
Your mind will control your actions. You actions will determine your outcome. Your outcome will be your reality, and your reality will be the trajectory of your future.
What will your future hold? You are the captain of your ship, the pilot of your plane, the engineer of your train.
Where are you heading?
One of my favorites:
“I will act now. I will act now. I will act now. Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour, each day, everyday, until the words become as much a habit as my breathing, and the action which follows becomes as instinctive as the blinking of my eyelids. With these words I can condition my mind to perform every action necessary for my success. I will act now. I will repeat these words again and again and again. I will walk where failures fear to walk. I will work when failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all I have. Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor of the lazy. Tomorrow is the day when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure. I will act now. Success will not wait. If I delay, success will become wed to another and lost to me forever. This is the time. This is the place. I am the person." -Og Mandino
